september calendar

we are busy bees here at our little place preparing for 11 of our wonderful friends to come visit this weekend! i can’t wait to fill you in on our annual reunion.

in the meantime, here is the september calendar. thanks to my hottie husband for taking the pictures for me. if the numbers look a little faint to you, it’s because they are. my printer is running out of ink, and alas we have not made it to office max to buy more between our travels this month.

As always, here are some tips to get your calendar looking just right:
- Check the “scale to fit” box if any of your printer margin settings are off.
- Use a paper cutter to get those oh-so-straight lines.
- Use twine, string, tape and a holepunch to hang it how ever you think looks best.

hiatus

my dearest readers! I’ve missed you. I’m finally back from my summer hiatus. Tim and I spent the last two weeks traipsing across the country. We spent some time in LA. And then came back to the east coast and spent a few days in the Outer Banks in North Carolina. It was so great to unplug. Besides a few tweets, I didn’t check email. Or post any blogs. Clearly. Since you’ve had nothing to read.

I’m glad to be back though and eager to share some of my highlights from my trip. want to know what I’ve been up to?

1. beaching it in malibu and laguna beach

2. drinking the fanciest coffee I’ve ever had

3. watching my sis in the act of her brilliant photog skills

4. befriending this fabulous little being

5. staying at this gorgeously designed retreat

6. visiting unique oc at the lab in costa mesa

7. eating gelato – like ten times and loving it every time

8. finishing the poisonwood bible. part of my summer reading list and a must-read.

9. visiting this oh-so-cute design shop

10. leaving this one blank because I could keep going and I can’t decide.

i’m off to LA! I’m so ready for a vacation. And. I finally will get to be out in the sun. Yes, for the first time this summer. I know. That’s really sad. buuut Malibu here I come!

jazz age

if you could pick a decade, which one would you live in? I would pick the 1920s. I’ve swooned over that decade for as long as I can remember. I think it’s the combination of what was simultaneously happening in music and in fashion.

Governor’s Island in nyc does a jazz age dance party each summer to give a nod to simpler times. The sartorialist’s photos of this year’s governor’s island jazz are out of this world. I love the black and white ones:
