say it with water

February 8, 2010

Ok, ok. We all know Valentine’s Day can be cheesy. I’m married and I still think that way. But all consumer controversy, candy hearts, and criticism aside, Valentine’s can be a thoughtful holiday. And you can even extend your thoughtfulness to charity too.

One of my favorite charities is charity: water. This month, they’re inviting you to say Happy Valentine’s day with water. Here’s how it works. They are selling $20 valentines cards. Each $20 card gives a person in a developing nation clean water for 20 years. A $100 card can provide water for a family of five. And 100% of the money goes to the freshwater projects in developing nations. The recipient of the card even gets to pick which nation they want to direct the money to. How awesome is that?

So, not feeling flowers + chocolate this year? Spread the love with water instead.
