remember kenya?

May 17, 2010

It is hard to believe that it has nearly been a year since tim and I were in Kenya. There are moments in life that leave an impression on your heart that you know will never be erased. Kenya is that moment for us.

I dreaded coming home from Kenya. I didn’t want it to end. I didn’t want to forget just because I had returned to the routine of life. Now, it has been a year…a year that has flown by. But I’m happy to say that the routine of life hasn’t stolen Kenya. Looking back, I don’t think it could have. The truth is, we left a bit of our hearts in Kenya – for the people of Kibera, for the mission of First Love Kenya, and for a little girl in particular named Irene.

We look forward to the day when we will go back. Until then, we remember. We pray. And we share.

Here is brief a look at our time there last year.

these little guys attend a school in kibera where we spent much of our time. The school is near the train tracks that cut right through kibera.  Kiberans, like this guy with his bike, use the tracks as a sort of roadway, traveling alongside the tracks.

this is the girls home at first love kenya and one of our favorite people we met there.
