here’s to the new year

January 14, 2013

christmas

I happily took a break from regular blogging and social media for a good part of November and December. While it was an unintentional break, fueled largely by semester finals and the busy Christmas season, it ended up being nice and quite needed. We were able to spend time together as a family, taking small adventures like visiting the historic Willard Hotel, watching seasonal ice-skaters at the sculpture garden, cutting out paper snowflakes, and baking pomegranate and white chocolate chip cookies. Mixed in here and there was the stress of buying last-minute Christmas gifts, packing and re-packing, laundry, and car travels. But we were quite thankful to be able to spend a low-key but enjoyable season with extended family, including hosting family from California (yes, here in our small apartment!).

Routines are nice, though, and I think we’re happy to be settling back into one. So here’s to a new year – on this blog and in life! Many adventures ahead.
